Few thoughts....

If anyone wants to send Ryan things, he would LOVE IT!!!! However... do not send him a GPS! hahahaha
What has this world come to... Missionaries and GPS's? I just roll my eyes and have to laugh about it.

Also, knowing how things operate in the Mortimer household... no one should be surprised that Ryan's bike already broke. :) Maybe it was the heat? The fact his bike had no GPS? Ahh... who knows.

Anyways, thanks for all the love and support for Ryan. He really appreciates it and loves sharing his experiences.

THANKS EVERYONE!!!

- Catherine :)

Lakeside Ward/Tucson Arizona

Hey all,

I love you all :) To mom, Yes I got my bike and it runs well. I haven't received
my package yet. No I'm not by fires. Don't forget to tell people to write on my
face book thanks :) I love letters. Oh, the weather here is soooooooo hot. But
its oklol.

So here has been my week
I wake up at 6:15am
Work out till 6:45
Pray till 7:15
Personal study till 8:15
Breakfast till 9:00
Companionship study till 11:00am then out the door we go.

I have never been so tired in my life. When I come home I just want to crash and
die lol. But, then we still have to plan our next lessons. But I absolutely love
it! We had a baptism on Sat. YYYEEESSSSSSSS. It was so cool. It was our ward
mission leaders sons girlfriend and the son is actually on his mission right now
in GA. She had such a sweet spirt about her. We are also teaching a Mexican
family and they just dropped the baptism date on us :(  but they want us to
still teach them. They dropped the date because the father didn't feel ready and
he says he doesn't feel the spirit in church. Its kinda hard to explain and he
is a smoker so we will work with him.

This was a cool experience. So we went to this apartment complex to find some
former investigators. We walked by this group of kids and just kept walking. The
whole time we were walking by I kept feeling GO BACK! GO BACK! GO BACK!  I was
thinking... they will make fun of us and all that stuff. So we kept walking...
then it shouted at me GO BACK! So I looked at my companion and said we need to
go back and talk to them. He was about to say no but felt that we should go back
too. So we did. We stated talking to them for about 15 min and we were like Dan
Jones
in Wales. We were on top of a hill preaching the word of God, man I loved
it. People were even walking behind us mocking us and we also had people stop
and listen. It was so sweet.

Everyone this gospel is true. This is the Lords work. Without him I am nothing.
We are here in the last days, and I'm so glad that I have the opportunity to
preach his word. My goal is in this transfer to read the Book of Mormon. So
every transfer I will read one book either Old Testament, New Testament, The
Book of Mormon and The Doctrine of Covenants. I know I can do it! I love this
gospel with all my heart. I bear my testimony about 10 times a day. It is so
wonderful. I love this area and I love these people. I just wanna stand on the
rooftop and shout hosanna the Lord is King. This is his gospel we are his
servants. I love it soooo much. I'm so glad I've been called to the work because
i have the desire to do the work. my challenge to everyone is memorize doctrines
and convents section 4. we have to hear and recite it everyday. i love it. truly
we are called to the work. i love his work. i love these people.

With much love

Sorry for taking a bit to get this out there for everyone!!! We are still waiting for pics of Ryan to attach to this. :)

June 1, 2011/Mission Training Center Orem, Utah

WELL HELLO ALL :)

How is every one. I'm and just great here in the MTC. The weather has finally gotten better, and we saw the sun for the first time today. WOOOOHOOOOOO. yesterday I played some baseball aka amazing. and I love it. I love it here so much. It will be sad to to leave, but I am excited to go because I can't wait to get to the field. On Tues, we saw President Packers son and he spoke to us. It was soooo cool. He spoke of how we need to teach investigators. and what a treat it was. I was glued on him the whole time. Oh something funny, I am the pianist for my branch. Guess all that hymn practicing went to good use. I also play the intermediate hymns so like solos and stuff. Its crazy cause no one else can play the piano. Weird ik. well so whats been going on. I'm kind of sealed off from the outside so we bribe the new missionaries to tell us whats going on. Not really but we still want to know.

The spirit here is so strong. I love it. When I go teach a lesson, I always feel it.
Its the greatest feeling I've ever had. the love that I have for these people is truly amazing. The love I have for the people of Tucson is so strong. I can't wait to get out and teach them. It will be such a blessing to finally go. The time here has truly flown by. I thought it would be so slow here, but its gone by sooo fast.
Everybody...if you could pray for an Elder in my district. His name is Elder Flint, he just had surgery last night, he had a double hernia. Yeah bad news bears. But he is doing better. We gave him a blessing, oh man was the spirit so strong, and i got to anoint. Such a cool blessing. Today is the day that we get to go to the temple. I'm so excited to go. i love it so much. i learn more every time I go.

Everybody that reads this letter know this...this gospel is true. Our Heavenly Father runs this church. He has called a prophet here on the earth. President Monson is a prophet of God and I know this. I know without a shadow of a doubt that Joesph Smith sawgod the Father and Jesus Christ is the Sacred Grove. When I memorized the first vision, this rooted my testimony of that occurrence even more. I love this gospel will all of my heart. Me being on a mission has been the best decision I've ever made. This work is going forth in ways i never imagined. This is gods work, and we are his humble servants. I love him more than anything in the world. This is his church, and he is at the head. I know this. If any of you don't...please pray for it. It will come. Its like in James 1:5 in the bible, "If any of ye lack wisdom, let him ask of God, Who giveth to all men liberally and abridith not." I know that god will answer you, cause he has answered me. When we teach people these things, and you see that light go on, you know you just tapped into the light of Christ. We are all gods children, and he loves us. never have I felt that love more than now. You are so precious to him. I know he loves you and will answer you. Well its time to go. I love you all.

Here is my new email for this week.

June 7, 2011/Tucson East Zone/Lakeside Ward

Hey family,

How is everyone doing? Well I'm in Tucson now. I got my first area. I will be in the Tucson East Zone in the lakeside ward. From what I've heard it is a thriving area. We have a baptism on Sat. Already WOOOOHOOOOO. I'm so excited. we also have a family of six with a baptism date. How sweet is that. So please send me my  white pants and tie. Thanks We flew in on Mon and i had to be up at 3 a.m. We went to the travel office and we got on a coach bus that sent us to SLC airport. where i called mom and dad and the girls were on the phone to. It was so nice to hear your voices. We flew from SLC to PHX and from PHX to TUC. How cool it was. People all over were looking at our name tags and were like oh wow where are you going? Where are you from. IT was soo cool. ON the flight to TUC we sat right next to a nun. So funny. She kind of glared at me cause she saw The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on my name tag. At the airport we met someone from the TUC area and she is in one of the wards down here so that was neat. So yesterday we went and met Pres and Sis Walker. How awesome are they. they are the sweetest people I've ever know. Mom and Dad please send my bike ASAP. I need it like now, I'm in a biking area. and that is all we have. Also I need my driving certificate. Please send that ASAP, without that right now I can't drive so please send that asap. Anyways so yesterday we arrived at we went right to the Mormon Battalion moment in Tucson. I guess the Mormon Battalion stayed here for two weeks on the journey west. How awesome is that. Then we had some training at the Pres home and we were interviewed so Pres Walker can know where to send us. Then some time to ourselves. we were all so tired from the day that we all took a nap. we then got up and we had dinner with all of the office elders and sisters and Pres and Sis Walker. And mom Sis Crawtz is sooo funny, and she scolded me for not having my driving record ;) lol. Oh another thing mom and dad maybe send the gps? ;) please we can use them here i would love it if you would, if not ok. ;) but that would be way nice of you. lol. so after all of the dinner and stuff, we had a testimony meeting. oh my goodness, the spirit was so strong, not one dry eye of 8 boys. it was so amazing. we then went outside to look at Tucson. There pres walker challenged just to work as hard and as long as we can. I love him. he asked what kind of legacy do we want to leave in Tucson. So after that, bed time. We got up at 5 today to get ready and see where were going. like I said before Tucson East Zone in the lakeside ward. I met my trainer. He's 6 foot 4.5 he is same build as me. so big. His name is Elder Todd Stapley. He is from Kaysville Utah and went to Davis High School. hes been here for about 8 months. So he is way awesome. I really love it here. It is hot already but I guess that's life. So the reason I'm writing you today is b/c Tues on transfer weeks is p-day, but all the other weeks its Mon. I'm all set with my apt room. He is a way clean guy so that nice. He is way sweet. the bed is so small lol I do need a blanket. Oh so when we slept at the mission home, I slept in the General Authority's bed. how awesome is that. The work here if flourishing and I love it. I can't wait to really get started. Its crazy to think that I'm a missionary here in my area now. I'm not at the MTC anymore. Its so awesome. I love it so much. I am so thankful that I'm a servant of the Lord. My testimony has grown so much. I know that with out him I am nothing. But with him I can do all. How great is it to know that. That through god we can do anything. I'm striving to stay humble. The knowledge has come very well. I can remember scriptures and things like that like I've never have before. I love it. This is his work and his glory. This is not my mission but his. I am his servant, and i can't wait to sever even more. This gospel is true and i know it with every fiber of my being. There is now way that I can deny this gospel. It has saved me in so many way. How grateful i am to have a family you like. I love you all dearly. I miss you but I know I am where I'm supposed to be. Please know that. I am where I'm supposed to be. I love this work. I love these people. I hope you all have a wonderful day. I know that I will. Remember "If any of ye lack wisdom, let him ask of God, Who giveth to all men liberally and abredith not." also look up 3 Nephi 12:27. another one of my new favorites. I love you all. With much love and care,

Love,
